The Deep Pit Of Adultery

In Genesis 2:24, the Bible tells us of the origin of the institution called marriage, the union of a man and a woman in holy matrimony. The act of having sexual affairs outside of marriage is simply called ADULTERY and whosoever indulges in such act is known as an ADULTERER/ADULTERESS.

God is strongly against it because in Exodus 20:14, He commanded His people not to commit adultery. When a man finds a woman worthy to be his wife, after marrying her, he is not to look at or covet another woman. The other woman according to the Bible in the book of Proverbs is referred to as the ‘strange woman’.

The Bible tells of all the desirable qualities in a strange woman that might attract the married man to commit adultery but it also tells us of the destructive qualities in her.

The book of Proverbs 5:3, explains that her lips drop like a honeycomb and her mouth is smoother than oil. This means that she has a sugar coated mouth than can make a sane man lose his senses in lust. She will flatter you just to get you right where she wants you (Proverbs 6:24)

. As sweet as she may be, she is the epitome of destruction. In verse four and five of Proverbs chapter five, after flattering you with her sugarcoated words, and after you have fallen for her whims, her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet goes down to hell and that’s exactly where she is leading you to. You may enjoy many pleasures filled days with her but at the end, you’ll curse the day you were conceived.
The Bible in Proverbs 5:8-11, commands us to flee and cut any ties with the strange woman if not your honor, health, wealth and labour and all the good things you’ve achieved before you met her will be enjoyed by people you don’t know when you are terminally ill and your body and strength fail you.

You’ll be robbed of the joy and glow your body once had because of the fatal diseases you’ll contact her. By that time, you’ll regret that you didn’t hearken unto the advice of those who love you (because anyone who warns you of the impending danger of the strange woman actually loves you).

Many people give excuses pertaining to why they commit adultery. A man will go to a harlot because his wife supposedly makes his life miserable.

He can pretend that she has his best interest at heart and really cares about him. She’ll hold him comfortingly and listen to his tales of woe at least until they’ve pleasured themselves but the truth is, she doesn’t really care. She’ll milk your pockets dry until you are worth a piece of bread because she sees you as her ticket to the next meal (Proverbs 6:26).

Moreso, you may have feelings for the strange woman but that doesn’t justify the fact that you are a sinner. No matter how a hot coal glows, if you step on it, it will burn you. No matter how you interpret your actions, adultery is adultery and whosoever commits it is not innocent (Proverbs 6:26-29).

Jesus, in (Matthew 5:27-28), told us that in the time of our forefathers, they were commanded not to commit adultery but he is now telling us that even if you look at a woman in lust, you have done the act. It is no more the sin of the body but also the sin of the heart. For merely thinking of another woman/man other than your wife/husband in a sexual way, you are guilty of adultery.

Women are inexcusable because from the time of Moses to the time of Christ even until now, women did commit adultery. In the era of the law which was the time of Moses, their judgement was instant (stoned to death). However, we are in the era of grace because of the love of God.

Nowadays, women take that grace for granted. Women having young men to satisfy them is the norm. As a woman, going out of the way of your marriage to gratify and pleasure yourself sexually is a sin and if you don’t repent you will die because the Bible says the soul that sins shall die. If you are a widow, remarry or an unmarried woman, marry if you can’t control your sexual urge (1 Corinthians 7:8-9).

“For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her. Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death”. Examine your life. Are you guilty of adultery? There is still hope for you. Repent now before you destroy your soul and it is too late for remedy.
Prayer

1. Father, every grip of sexual sin over my life, loose your hold in Jesus’ name.
2. I break every soul tie with my past sexual partners in the name of Jesus.
3. Every good thing I have lost because of adultery, Father, in your mercy, restore them back in Jesus’ name.
4. O Lord, help me to say ‘NO’ to sexual temptation in Jesus’ name.
